In October 2011, President Myra Harris Johnson and Vice President Dr. Matt Stiehm from the Law Enforcement Family Support Network traveled to Chicago to present at the 2011 International Association Chiefs of Police Conference. Specifically President Harris and Dr. Stiehm presented in the Smaller Agency Track on Saturday October 22, 2011. The presentation was title “Building Officer Resilience by Engaging the Family”- the session was to designed to equip smaller agency executives with free and low cost tools for outreach and education. Participants will acquire practical strategies on how to educate family members about their critical role of support. President Harris and Vice President presented to approximately 65 chief law enforcement officers, and executives from across the world. The presentation was well received and Ms. Johnson Harris was seen speaking with approximately 10-12 people after the presentation for about 40 minutes on a variety of topics to include additional trainings, training ideas, and generally thanks from the audience members. Specifically the two made contact with two federal level officials who were interested in setting up some direct and train the trainer programs utilizing the curriculum that was created and designed by the Law Enforcement Family Support Network. This trip should be considered a big success. If you are interested in getting any information please utilize the links above or contact the organization directly.
